Around the age of 23 I was diagnosed with multiple chronic skin disorders, an out of whack immune-system, a failing liver, kidneys and adrenal gland and a plethora of extra problems such as parasites, staph infections, a dying gut flora and insomnia triggered by the above. A point was reached where I was put on endless corticosteroids as I entered the dreaded but well known cycle of medicating to combat the side effects of all the medication I was already on.
Two years down the road I recognised what little of my life I had left, was being supported in a very artificial way while the quality of it was still declining on a daily basis. It became clear to me that if I wanted to get a second chance at life, I would not only need to find a way to naturally remedy each and every one of my physical ailments, but also address the mental and emotional damage that happened during this period.
Seek and rebuild
And after a very special morning where a single feeling of joyfulness managed to overcome all my fears, my journey towards holistic wellbeing on every level of my being started. I began with very tangible things. From turning food into medicine, to learning how to use nature as my life support system and making my own skin care products. I started to teach myself how to move again after lying down for over 2 years. And searching for better ways to do the simplest of things that almost go unnoticed by most people.
How to breath, how to sit, how to sleep etc. Which then naturally expanded into how to act and treat others, people close to me, but also people I’ve never met before. And finally how to be true to myself.
This in turn led me to southern India to study and explore these tools and mechanisms for inner wellbeing under the guidance of wonderful teachers and a great master, to be able to bring them back and teach them the way they were meant to be taught, here in the West where the idea of health and the need for a little peace and joy has spiralled out of control.
Imbibe and share
During this journey, I’ve met many extraordinary people who taught me many remarkable things for which I am very grateful. One of which led me to explore the world of Yoga. Not the type of studio-yoga that has rapidly gained popularity all over the world. But the classical form that focusses on building a foundation of physical, mental, emotional and energetical stability to create lasting health, wellbeing and joy.
My journey is far from over. But the experience, wisdom, knowledge and practise I have gathered during this process so far, can greatly benefit anyone suffering from any type of ailments, and those who are looking for a healthier and wholesome life.
All of this would not have been possible without the love, guidance, help and support of many wonderful people in my life. Parents, brothers, sisters, friends and teachers. I cannot begin to put into words the amount of gratitude and love I hold for each and every one of you. Now it’s my turn to give back.
At the bottom of this page there are 2 sections that contain pictures of some of the skin problems I had and managed to heal.
Your ability to heal whatever ails you physically, mentally or emotionally, is not because you want to heal. “I want to heal” is a desire. This desire is just an intention. An intention wont make things happen, an intention will only set direction. You still have to make the journey.
